[ Because a thick shard of glass comes roaring up out of the glass, aiming directly for Vash's leg. Not enough to cut it off, maybe, but plenty to impale and stick if he's not fast enough. ]

[ Fortunately, he IS fast. It does still rip a hole through one of the tails of his duster though, which just increases the irritation. ]

[ ANYWAY, firing a single round at the mirror pond she dipped into, mostly to see what the fuck that does ]

MOVING TO TRY TO GET THEM OFF BEFORE SHENANGIANS]

[darkness falls over the area, though Minuet, Styx, Charon, the pool of glass, and the spiked tower remain visible, still limned in daylight. an alien wolflike thing taller than any of the men steps out of the shadows, blue-furred, huge curving spikes jutting up from its back and crackling with lightning.

which! it is aiming at the tower rather than the glass pool; a vicious white-hot bolt.]

[ Multiple things happen at once.

The first - a gunshot rings out. The spot where the bullet impacted blackens, the glass going inert. Whatever magic Pandora has going for her, it's still clearly getting nerfed when it gets hit with honeysuckle. At least as far as the effect extends, which is a small but decent radius.

The second - lightning descends on her little tower, reducing half of it to molten slag. The other side tips precariously, only stopped from toppling and shattering by way of being propped up by said molten pile. As the next few seconds pass, it will begin to melt and cool as well. There's an according cry of rage and pain, and that's when -

Just as the daylight dims, just as Styx gets his hands on the frames ... twin shards of glass impale backwards into his eyes. ]

[do you know? he's probably had some eye trauma at some point thanks to being in an assassin death cult who can fully heal with magic science medicine or whatever.

but probably that trauma didn't involve MIRROR SHARDS DIRECT HITTING FROM THE BACK SIDES OF HIS SHADES.

he tries to jerk his head back, but it's too fast, between one blink and the next. and then there's blood and he's screaming. maintaining a grip on his gun, though, and firing down at whatever glass is nearest him while his free hand continues to try to pull the shades from his eyes. kind of hard to do when impaled on them.]

[ How fast can Minuet move, exactly? Unclear, but he darts over to Styx faster than he's ever moved in the pasture to date. Truly throwing himself against the powercap.

He doesn't waste time with a warning of any kind; grips Wolfwood's lapel with his flesh hand and uses the metal one to grab the mutated glasses and yank. ]

You'll pay for that.

[said quite calmly, if breathlessly; the magic is telling on him, and he takes a gulp of something from a small ceramic bottle he was holding in his hand.

he cannot do more for Styx than Minuet is doing, so he presses on. the darkness shivers but doesn't fade; the wolf snarls and crouches low in place, as he repeats the spell. but between his needing to heal and needing to cast, the others have a few seconds to act before he can bring more lightning.]

[Styx not even fighting against the grip, like he knows it's Vash there even though he can't see and the pain is, ha, blinding.

there's no real preparing for the shock of having things in your eyes ripped out, though, so his legs do buckle a little until he's having to use his free hand to clutch onto Vash to keep standing.]

[ Well Styx will hear him put two bullets in the glasses before they even hit the ground.

[in the background, Charon quietly also answers this by changing targets and just blasting the liquefied glass swallowing him with wolf lightning.

his magic does not do friendly fire so he's not killing himself with it. it...still fucking sucks if this turns into superhot slag around his legs like he thinks it might, but he'll take it over leaving her an opening to fully stab him]

[ The glasses shatter with a (hopefully) satisfying little noise of pain from Pandora; it interrupts the otherwise incessant cackling.

And, well. Charon is correct, unfortunately: that does generate some superheated slag around his legs, which is likely going to burn like hell. What it ALSO does is draw Pandora out with another screech of pain and rage. She rises up behind him, arm sharpening to a single glass point and preparing to stab him through the heart. There's a brief moment of opportunity for someone else to do something first. ]

Can he wrench Styx in to kiss him and shoot through Pandora's sharpening arm at the same time? Yes, of course.

Is it stupid though? Also yes. ]

there's probably only the barest noise of aggravation from Wolfwood before he responds to the kiss. definitely going to get as much healing as he can out of it, yep.]

takes the opening to yank himself out of and away from there, summoning a ghost to help dislodge the liquid glass off his legs as he scrambles back. he's making no noise about it but fucking ow.

[ Pandora ducks down and hurls herself at the couple, gesturing up with her hand. A hot, jagged shard of glass comes up out of the molten lake, trying to stab through both Minuet and Styx with the same blow. ]

which is to say, Wolfwood's never been an optimist and he hasn't started now, so he really didn't expect her to cave to their demands and was already shifting so he could take a pot shot at Pandora while also lowering his free hand so he could slam Vash in the solar plexus pretty damn hard, even for plantman. THIS IS WHY YOU NEED ARMOR THAT GUARDS YOUR ABS, IDIOT.

and then it's just a matter of turning and using his body weight to hopefully (please, please, please work at least a little, he does not say aloud mostly because his chest feels heavy and getting in breaths is hard and oh, right. that thing's probably growing in him. great. let's get this fuckin' over with) slam Vash back and down away from him.]
